Jessica Simpson said in a recent interview that she calls Tony Romo by a secret nickname. Ready for it?

It’s FBD, her future baby’s daddy.

Yeah, that won’t scare him away at all. She apparently talks about “FBD” to her friends only and that “she knows he’s not ready to get that serious, so she’s playing it cool.”

She also said Tony doesn’t know.

Well, I think he knows now.

Looks like the Maddens (Joel and Nicole Richie) have really become fast friends with Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson. The twosome were at the Ashlee and Pete’s wedding, and recently Nicole and Ashlee were out shoe shopping together.

And of course, the two couples are both entering parenthood. So it stands to reason that they’d be giving the Went’z some parenting advice. Pete says Joel Madden has been a great source of tips. Pete says, “”Joel gives me advice. (It’s) been really awesome for me to go to another person my age.”

Ashlee Simpson has addressed those nasty rumors about her freaking out over baby weight gain. She wrote on her Myspace page:

“1. My doctor says I am right on target with my weight gain
2. Have not been to Planet Blue in at least two years
3. Love my maternity jeans ..they have stretchy tops it is awesome!
4. My closet full of size 0’s are being worn by Pete right now and he looks hot in them
So now that I have cleared that up let me tell you…carrying a child is the most inspiring, emotional, amazing experience of my life. My weight and my pant size are the absolute last thing I am concerned about. I am only concerned with having a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. People who talk and judge pregnant women’s weight need to get a life!!!”

Amen to that! Isn’t it good to realize Ashlee is as normal and balanced as we thought she was? I can’t imagine being pregnant and dealing with the prospect of being a mommy and having hormones pumping through my system and dealing with these kind of rumors. It’s got to be rough.

Looks like she takes it all in stride tho. Besides that, she looks downright adorable!

Ashlee Simpson left La Scala yesterday through the backdoor, but photographers still managed to catch up with her.

Again, I’m amazed at how great she looks. She seems to have gained baby weight only in her bump and nowhere else! I love the top and necklace she has on here.

Looks like Ashlee Simpson was busy over the Labor Day weekend. Here she is leaving the Luxe Hotel on Rodeo Drive Tuesday before doing some more shopping. She’s got to fit it all in before the baby!

Remember the Ashlee Simpson Show? It aired right after Newlywed’s, and was Papa Joe’s attempt to help Ashlee launch a singing career. He’d spent so much time with Jessica over the years that he realized he’d kind of neglected Ashlee.

In the Ashlee Simpson Show we got to see Ashlee going about her daily business, in addition to the small detail of making her first pop album. The show did a good job of showcasing Ashlee’s personality, and unlike Newlywed’s, seemed to be more natural. Newlywed’s, by contrast, seemed like one set up after another for Jessica to act silly or her and Nick to argue. Ashlee is just kind of milliing around in her show, and while some people found this kind of boring, I actually really like it. She’s very entertaining.

Here’s a video of the “funny bits” of the show. We get to see Ashlee display the Simpson sister talent of burbing during a radio show, making fun of her Saturday Night Live jig, and playing hockey (or mostly falling down on the ice.)

I also found a promo for Season 3, which (correct me if I’m wrong here Ashlee fans) never actually aired. I’m fairly sure there were only two seasons of the show. Perhaps they were going to show a third season and then bagged it? Anyways, here is the promo:

Caught this clip from the Chelsea Lately Show with Chelsea Handler, John Caparulo, Giuliana Rancic and Jay Phillips. They were talking about Jessica Simpson so of course I had to tune in to see what they said!

As it turns out, they talked about the booing incident with Jessica’s first country appearance. At first I thought they were going to say that it was wrong to boo her, because Chelsea started off by being very sympathetic. After all, no one likes to be booed!

But then Chelsea caught a quote about Jessica talking about Tony Romo and how she’d written a song for him. This is where I actually agree with Chelsea a bit, because I don’t think Jessica should be hauling out Tony’s name every time she wants to fit in with country music.

Next in this clip, Giuliana talks about the fact that she doesn’t like that Jessica brings up Texas so much either. Again, I have to agree. It’s like she’s trying to force people to accept her into country music by letting them know “how country” she really is. Take a look at this clip:

The thing they don’t mention in this clip is the fact that she did both these things (talked about Tony and Texas) while in the state of Wisconsin. I can’t tell you all how BIG football is in Wisconsin. The Packers have the second largest fan base behind the Steelers. (Larger than even the Cowboys, folks!) So saying something like this in front of a Wisconsin crowd isn’t going to get people on your side. Plus, if you’re playing in Wisconsin, who cares if you’re from Texas? Say that stuff when you’re in Texas performing.

Again, I blame Joe Simpson for these things. As her manager, I think he should have prepared her better, and talked about what types of things she should have said for that audience. Despite what people say about him, he is a very successful manager so the fact that he didn’t do this surprises me.

Bottom line is, Jess has got to prove herself in country music. It can’t be rushed and it probably will take some time.

I thought Jessica Simpson was great when she did a stint on That 70’s Show back in 2003. The role was Annette, a love interest of Kelso’s, and was the perfect introduction into the acting world.

Jessica got to be funny and ditzy (something she also used to the Nth degree on her reality show, Newlywed’s) but for this role and TV series, it worked. It’d be great to see her do some more TV. I think she lights up the small screen and believe it’s a better vehicle for her than movies. She just comes alive on TV. I’d like to see her do something else along the lines of a sitcom.
