Jessica Simpson has had her share of ups and downs lately when it comes to love. She got divorced from her first love Nick, got her heart broken from John, and still doesn’t know what’s going on with her man Tony.

But every person we date teaches us something. The more we learn, the better able we are to find the right person.

Here are a few lessons Jessica Simpson has learned (at least we hope she has.)

1.) Don’t change who you are to get a guy to like you more.
All we need to do is see Jessica with dark hair to understand how badly she wanted to change for John Mayer. He wanted a less dramatic babe who he could have a great conversation with, and yet would not take ten hours getting ready to go out. Trouble is, that’s not Jess. When John asked, “I wonder what you’d look like as a brunette” Jessica should have said, “Like your ex-girlfriend.”

2.) Getting back with someone out of lonliness will never lead to a happy ending.
When Nick and Jess first dated she was very young and felt like she needed to see the world and date more people before she could commit fully to Nick. The problem is, she got lonely, called up Nick and said she wanted to get back together because - gosh - being single was no fun. If she’d have stuck it out, she might have learned a thing or two about herself and saw the differences between her and Nick. Instead, her lonliness lead to a marriage that probably should have never happened.

3.) Remaining humble will help you appreciate the things that are real in your life.

When Jess was in Dukes of Hazzard she thought she was going to be a big time star. She starred in more commercials, she had a sleezy hit video, and she was in a movie with a couple of hunky guys. One of those guys, it was rumored, she dallied with while doing the movie. Everything in her life was netting more money and more attention. Perhaps that’s why she suddenly wanted out of her marriage to Nick. She forgot that Nick was genuine, and fame is fleeting.

4.) Leave and cleave.
That means the next time you get married no reality TV cameras, not butt-insky dad, and no putting hubby behind career.

5.) Don’t stalk your man and just “hang around.”
No guy likes a girlfriend who is always there. Have a life. Balance the time you spend with your man versus what you do elsewhere. Sing. Act. Do something besides push hair products and go out for dinner. No matter how beautiful you are, you’ll hold a man’s interest if you aren’t an interesting person.

Kate Moss likes to think she has a wonderful singing voice. And who knows, maybe she does! For months now she’s been asking her boyfriend Jamie Hince to let her sing with him on stage, alongside his well-known band, The Kills.

But Jamie says no. No way. No dice. Not my band. Negative.

A recent article writes, “There are absolutely no plans to get Kate involved. ‘She’s got a beautiful voice but this is my thing,’ the Sun quoted him (Jamie) as saying. Moss had been allowed by her former lover Pete Doherty to accompany him on stage. But this time she is in for a very big disappointment as Hince has refused to have anything to do with her on stage.”

I kind of understand where Jamie is coming from, but at the same time, at least let her sing one single solitary song, or something. Just to shut her up, if nothing else!

Academy Award-winning director Sydney Pollack, who achieved commercial success and critical acclaim with the comedy “Tootsie” and the period drama “Out of Africa” has died following a battle with cancer.

He was 73.

How could the American Idol finale have been any better?? Let’s see… George Michael could have blown you out of you socks (in the words of Idol reject Kristi Lee Cook…) But oh wait - he did!

 

Then, David Archuleta could have been in a Guitar Hero commercial in his undies, which would have been sorta inappropriate but at the same time, kinda awesome …. oh wait - he was!

 

And then, the bestest contestant could have won the whole shebang (as he totally deserved) and thus repaired A.I.’s tarnished reputation and healed America’s Sanjaya/Fantasia/Taylor Hicks-inflicted wounds… oh wait - HE DID!!

 

Oh, American Idol… you’ve retained your special place in my heart…

I have to admit, that I STILL can’t get over Ashton Kutcher being married to Demi Moore. I believe it’s the oddest pairing imaginable, and I really don’t see it lasting too much longer. Especially when he comes out with statements like this:

“Sometimes the most illogical decisions you make in your life can be the best ones when it comes to love. In a lot of cases, when you think about things too much you make the wrong decisions.

“When I married Demi, I was the host of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ I had the number one show in America, I had the number one show on cable and the number one show on FOX, and I’d just beat Prince William as the most eligible bachelor in the world.

“If I thought logically, my logical mind would have talked me out marrying a woman with three kids, an ex-husband and a whole different life - but I let my illogical mind and heart talk me into it.”

This is perplexing to me; so is he saying that he basically fell so head over heels for Demi that he overlooked their huge age difference, the fact that she has three kids and an ex, and the huge age difference? I’m all for love conquering all and everything, but I honestly don’t see this lasting. What do you think?

Jimmy Fallon, mostly known for his work on Saturday Night Live along with a string of highly unfunny movies, will be replacing Conan O’Brien sometime in the near future. He recently sat down for a quick Q and A; here’s a small snippet:

Tracy Morgan said it bugged him and other “Saturday Night Live” members when you broke character and laughed midsketch. Was there tension at all on the set?
No, I don’t remember that at all. I don’t think he really meant that. There was no tension at all. I was in really good years. I had good people around me: Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Molly Shannon. They were all really nice people. - source

I don’t know…..Jimmy is funny, but only if there are funnier people around him so he can serve kind of as the straight guy who’s sorta funny (that probably makes no sense, but there you go). I don’t know how well he’s going to do as a late-night talk show host; he’ll certainly have some big shoes to fill.
