On Friday, December 19th, Jessica Alba and Cash Warren formally celebrated their nuptials in a reception held at their Beverly Hills home according to Us Weekly, seven months after they were married.

The couple expressed their commitment in speeches they each gave to the crowd full of friends and family.  Their fathers also spoke about their marriage. A mariachi band capped off the evening’s events.

Jessica and Cash exchanged their vows at the Beverly Hills courthouse on May 19, 2008 while Jessica was pregnant with daughter Honor Marie.

Who was the biggest star of 2008? Who had the most impact on the year that was, who inspired the most headlines or generated the biggest amount of buzz? It’s really tough to say … yet, for decades now, plenty of magazines have been doing just that (we’re looking at you, Time). And so, after years of sitting on the sidelines, we here at MTV News have decided to get in on the act too.

Over the next few days, we’ll be unveiling our list of the most fascinating, controversial and, well, BRITNEY!!! women of the year. These are the artists, actors and pop-culture heavyweights who dominated the headlines here at MTVNews.com (and no, Sarah Palin didn’t make the cut … we’ll leave that to the folks at Time).

Today, we present picks 10 to 6. On Tuesday, we’ll reveal numbers 5 to 2. And then, on Thursday, we’ll unveil our 2008 MTV News Woman of the Year. And, of course, we’d love to hear what you’ve got to say — we’ll even publish some of the best comments later this week — so if you agree with us (or if you don’t), let us know in the comments below.

2008 Highlights: Created by Beyoncé as a marketing tool/ psychological id for her I Am … Sasha Fierce album … Despite being completely fictional, may actually be more interesting than the actual Beyoncé … Starred in the “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” video, which managed to “out-crazy even ‘Ring the Alarm’ “ … Definitive proof that Beyoncé is nuts … Signified by a futuristic metallic glove worn on the left hand … Is probably steampunk … Quite possibly the most interesting alter-ego ever created by a musical superstar (sorry, Chris Gaines).

Brad Pitt and Ann Curry sat down yesterday in New Orleans to talk about Make It Right, New Orleans, and his life with Angelina Jolie and their children.

It was taped yesterday but aired this morning on the Today show. Here’s the six-minute segment:

Do you know what struck me right off the bat? They were talking about how there are already eight families living in completed homes while work continues on the rest. Brad was saying how great it was to know that some families were finally home for the holidays after so much time since Katrina - and then when Ann asked him if he had met these families, he started talking about them by name.

It may not sound like a huge deal but Hollywood is made out to be selfish in general, but here was Brad, knowing everyone’s name, their kids’ names, which house they live in… That’s someone who isn’t just throwing money at a problem but someone who is getting as completely involved as possible in every aspect of helping out people who have been waiting for years to come home.

Brad was reluctant to talk about his family at first but he opened up a bit, saying how amazing it is to have these six kids from all parts of the world who play and laugh and fight. He admitted that no, having six kids is not easy, but you get so much out of it.

He also talked about adoption and what it’s like to love a child that isn’t biologically your own and he confessed that he had wondered about the same thing, whether it would be harder but Brad said that it’s an automatic thing, you just love them.

Ann made me laugh when she said she was annoyed with him because she thinks she’s okay with a camera, and then along comes Brad with a big photo shoot of Angie and the kids in W magazine. Brad explained that his reason for doing that was because you don’t often get to see the warm, natural side of Angelina in other shoots. I agree with that!

Brad flat-out said he hates the paparazzi, differentiating between the photographers who take photos at special red-carpet events and the ones who climb over walls to scream your kids’ names to snap money shots. He said he thinks there should be laws against allowing them to follow after kids with cameras.

Ann asked the question about marriage, saying that once a reporter asked Angelina if she would ever get married to Brad and she said to ask him. He laughed about that and said that if it becomes important to the kids they’ll see.

It was suppose to be a long boring family reunion at my sister’s place. Please don’t mistake me for I love my family more then anything else; it is just that I hate the so called rituals to show my love to my family. It has always been the same over the years; my sisters exchanging notes on their latest jewelry purchases, their husbands upping the ante in the race to be the best son-in-law, and their children braying for my blood, each determined to have a piece of their only uncle. It isn’t that I don’t love my nieces and nephews; it is just that I love my solitariness more then anything else, and secretly, I don’t liked being called uncle by so many children because each time they call me I am reminded of my advancing age, lol.

So began the journey toward my sister’s place just outside Imphal with cars full bright excited eyes including mine. This was my second visit to her place since she moved in some weeks ago, but the first visit was just that, a visit and nothing else. This time as I neared her house I felt the magic of the place. As the meandering, ascending road led us toward my sister’s house the misty blue hills from afar turns into various shades of green, like a slow motion magician’s performance in progress. We could actually see white pieces of heaven kissing the ever so eager hill tops; a brazen love making act suitable for all to watch and appreciate, from my two and half year old nephew to my seventy year old father. The spray of tiny droplets of drizzle was the perfect welcome for us dusty city folks.

As the day progressed I never expected any meaningful topic to come up in all the chatter-chatters. But somehow one conversation led my host sister to say… No parents should expect anything from their children. Of course, children should always be prepared to be there when their parents need them. And parents should find satisfaction in that and should expect nothing more. I am so glad my sister said that and I am even gladder that my mom fully agreed with her. I will now feel a lot less guilty if I never get married or if I decide to live a gay couple life.

As we drive back through the same meandering road, the food that we ate was having an effect on all of us, and I saw sleepy faces all around me. They are faces I have seen a zillion times, and yet I never get bored looking at them. They are faces that make me who I am; I am their son, their brother, their brother-in-law, and their uncle. I love them all. It was a moment where I can easily get carried away and say that I will give up anything, even my gay life, to make them happy. But the question is: do they really want me to give up anything in my life to make them happy?

I had in the past shared with you emails, which I felt needed to be shared, that I receive from readers/friends. Nishant from Mumbai has been such a friend and reader who always shared with me his struggle of being closeted gay. Following is the reproduction, with his permission of course, of his recent email in which he told me about the latest twist in his life. It tells us why marrying a girl is not the easy option, as many might think, to get out of our closet mess…. it can only lead to an even grater mess.
Well, First of all I was always there on your blog and never missed a single post. Glad to know that you are alright. I hope all your friends and family members are doing fine.
Now, about me disappearing for so long, there’s a story behind that.

Last few months, or rather, more then seven months ago, I was going through a very challenging or I should say the most painfully depressing moment of my life, my granny was seriously unwell. Our family doctors said that she could not survive more then 48hrs. She is a heart patient. I have a very small family. Me, Mom my Granny and my puppy Labrador Bitch. My Dad had passed away about 3yr back due to kidney failure. It was a very big loss for us, so since we all are attached to each other very much. Getting back to seven months back, my Granny was suffering from heart failure and she was on her lungs only. So doctors said that she could only survive only till her lungs are functioning. But miraculously doctors found out it was not her heart that was not functioning properly, it was her lungs. Lucky within those last 48hrs our family doctor decided to take an x-ray and found out that her left lung was filled with water. Then they removed the water from her lungs and within 3/4hrs my granny was fit as she was before. Now the tension part was that doctors said they have to send the water removed from the lungs to the pathological-lab for testing purpose. Doctors said it could be malaria, flue, or might also is cancer. Everyone was happy that she was fine but when reports arrived we found that she is suffering from last stage cancer. All the happiness was evaporated cause last stage cancer is non curable. Doctors said she could only survive for 2/3 months. We decided not to tell her about cancer. The last stage is very painful.

One day I was just chatting with my granny and she asked me whether she could ever see my bride. And I guess you understood the situation. I was in intense pressure, at one side there was my granny who has always loved me so much and its time for me to do something for her and at the other end “I am gay”. I didn’t think for a single moment and said mom that I am ready for marriage and she can start looking for a right girl for me. I decided that I’ll stop all the web surfing that included the gay bloging or anything that would make me think or remind me I am gay. I didn’t wanted to be selfish person who is married to a women and seeking men in the dark. I am sorry for not posting comments, or, at least for not showing my concern in your bad times in the past few months.

So now as my mom was looking for a right girl for me. I always thought I am marrying for my mom and granny so I wanted a girl who is more of a housewife. And in the second week I got engaged with a sweet girl. She was a very simple Gujarati girl who puts a bindi on her forehead. She was very soft spoken and cute. I thought I could get along with her. Being a gay we are always blessed with tenderness in our nature. So I was always very caring and calm when ever I was with her. I wanted her to feel very comfortable; she was from a very low profile family located at the outskirts of Mumbai. And my family is very well known in our community; my Grandfather and my dad were always known for their kindness and had a good name. I am always into high life. Whether I am at restaurants or hanging out with friends or at shopping expensive things. So I never wanted her to feel that I am showing off and have an ego for my wealth. I hate it. I am a very down to earth man. But I always notice bit rudeness in my fiancés behavior. She never saw any care or concerns towards me. I thought it might be because she is new to the family so that’s why she must be feeling awkward to show care.
But as time went by, her rudeness was starting to annoy me. I, mom and my fiancé had gone to my native place in kutch for some religious function. The whole journey she never left any chance to bully me to irritate me. Even my mom noticed the same but she kept quite because there were few more relatives with us. Now I was like– what the fuck man. First of all I am trying so hard to like her and trying so much to make her feel good. There is always an extra effort from me and she was behaving like a bitch. Seriously, she was behaving very badly not just with me but she also insulted my best friend (the one I used to love so much but he is pure straight. But now he is just my best of the Best friend). So that was it. Even my mom didn’t like it. My mom also cares about my best friend as he is like her younger brother. We decided to call the relationship with the girl off (there are more reasons for the breakup. I will tell them later). But now my fiancé didn’t want to breakup. Now all of a sudden she was totally changed and she was like I am so sorry and all…

I understood, she wanted to marry my wealth and she thought I am a sissy and she can control me easily. She underestimated me. And then you know the “samaj” and bullshit. In our Kutchi Gujarati Samaj we have to place a meeting where we could discuss and announce that the engagement is off. So since then I am stuck with all these tensions.

I feel like a joker you know. Saala zindagi main (In my life) for the first time I was in a meaningful relationship, which was meaningless, and you saw the end. I think I am more then happy for that, you must be wondering what happened to my granny? Well she is a fighter. I can’t say she is fine but she is doing OK. She has lost all her memory and can hardly recognize anyone. It’s her bonus life that she is spending with us. My mom said she is always going to support me in any of my decisions. Let’s hope if I could open up to my mom some day…

It is just one of the news about Prince William that’s come out recently.

During his stint with the HMS Iron Duke, Prince William was surrounded by tattoo-sporting Navy men. He apparently got interested in having one done, a huge one in fact, one like the angel design on David Beckham’s back. According to the reported source (a sailor on the ship), the prince has only been kept back from getting decorated thusly by his girlfriend Kate Middleton’s possible reaction to it. I wonder what his grandmother, The Queen, or his father, Prince Charles, would have thought of it.

Prince William and Kate recently enjoyed a break at their favorite holiday destination, Mustique (photos at the Mail Online). The couple stayed at the Villa Rocina, went wakeboarding and took rides together on inflatables over the water. They also attended a dinner dance party for the 40th anniversary of the Mustique Company, which manages the island. Also in attendance at the party were Mick Jagger, Tommy Hilfiger and John and Belle Robinson, Kate’s former employers at Jigsaw. Their holiday continues to fuel speculation that Prince William is to pop the question soon, if he hasn’t already!

And if and when they get married, among those who are lining up for an appearance from the couple is TV’s Homer Simpson. Producers of The Simpsons are said to be eager to sign up both Prince William and Kate to be guests on the show. They say that it will help Prince William “connect on so many levels”. While such a project may be fun for Prince William, I’d be surprised if The Queen agrees to it. I’m afraid that it might detract from the grandeur of a royal wedding.

For some reason that’s beyond all comprehension, beautiful Beth Ostrosky will be taking the walk down the aisle this weekend to wed her fiance’ of just over a year, Howard Stern.

Howard Stern is a radio show host and shock jock and shock is what he does best - besides looking like a washed up has-been.

Beth and Howard became engaged Valentine’s Day of 2007.

The couple plan on following suit of many other celebrities who opt for multiple ceremonies.  The first ceremony will be in the Hampton’s in front of family and friends and will undoubtedly a lavish event. In October the couple will throw a more “intimate” affair.

Mark Consuelos, Kelly Ripa’s husband, is actually an ordained minister and he is the one that will marry Beth Ostrosky and Howard Stern. When asked if Regis would also be in attendance, Beth said, “It’s not that kind of thing. It’s spiritual.”

For those who may be wondering, Stern is 54 and Beth Ostrosky is 36, that’s a whopping 18 years difference.  Albeit it looks to be about 100 years age difference.

Either way, you’ve just gotta wish them well.

Paul Stanley, of the legendary rock band KISS, and his wife, Erin, 36, are expecting their second child together, this winter.

“Erin and I are thrilled and can’t wait to meet our newest addition,” Stanley, 56, said in a statement to People. “We’ve been extremely blessed and we’re excited to see what the future holds. I often joke that I’ve traded the Viper Room for the diaper room, and it looks like my tour’s been extended!”

The couple married in 2005, live in Beverly Hills.  They have one son, Colin, who turns 2 in September.  Paul’s 14-year-old son, Evan, also lives with the couple.

Stanley recently completed the European leg of The Kiss Alive/35 World Tour, which encompassed 30 sold-out shows in seven weeks.

I found some great photos of the happy bride and groom, but the sad thing is, there are none in any of the photo sources I have permission to use. We’ve talked about the self-help book Dayanara Torres has written, where she talks about trying to move on from her divorce from Marc Anthony.

Various media outlets have reviewed her book and interviewed her, and some, like this source, have even provided a few tidbits from the book. Like these:

• Let yourself feel the pain. A woman who hasn’t cried after divorce is a woman who hasn’t healed.

• Don’t rush into a new relationship. Wait until you’re in a happy, healthy peace.

IS Dayanara in a happy, healthy, place? WOULD she be writing a book about Marc Anthony if she had let go of regret?

And for those of you that think she’s being so great because she didn’t yak about Marc Anthony or J-Lo personally, it’s because she was “prevented by the court to discusss details of their failed marriage, so her book is more “self-help” and not “tell-all.” ~source

In other words, if she could have talked about details she probably would have.
