After her boyfriend of nine years, Patrick McDermott, 48, vanished in June 2005 while on a fishing trip off the California coast - it’s nice to see, Olivia Newton-John, 59, takes another chance at happiness.

Olivia Newton-John, who is probably best known for her part the hit movie version of the musical “Grease.” exchanged vows with John Easterling, 56, on June 21 in Cuzco, Peru, said a statement from the Reno, Nevada, office of attorney John Mason.

“Family and friends were told about the nuptials at a barbecue on July 4, 2008, in a private celebration at the singer’s home in Malibu, California,” the statement further said.

Gotta admit - he’s pretty hot for an old guy!  And I do have to wonder, when he was drooling over “Sandy” in Grease years ago, would have ever imagined he would be where he is today?

Pretty cool huh?

Now that reports of marital disharmony have started to surface, Mariah Carey is doing her best to convince the world just how happy she and new hubby Nick Cannon are.  In an interview with this month’s Elle magazine, Mimi tells a sorrowful tale of being “in an unhappy place” in her life and how she “just wanted a way out, but didn’t have one.”  She even wished that she could be kidnapped!

Then one day, a handsome prince named Nick came into her life and whisked her away with his playboy charms & ambitions for be a part of the “A-List” romantic antics (haha, that rhymes).  For the sake of not letting people talk them out of getting married, the perfect pair kept their romance on the downlow at first.  (They just had to wait for the right magazine cover deal and all that.)

Then one night, they were enjoying a lovely evening together on the rooftop of her NYC apartment & Nicky-Poo popped the question with a 17-carat diamond hidden inside a candy ring pop.  That is so appropriate.  Ever the modest one, Mariah shares, “They’ve been calling me Cinderella since I first started out.  Most people would think, Okay, please! This doesn’t happen in real life.”  Then again, Mariah Carey does not live on this planet.

But the story isn’t over yet.   Because one proposal is not how Mimi rolls.  A few days later, she got a second proposal.  “He sort of kidnapped me and took me on a helicopter ride.  Then he re-proposed,” she gushes.

If I’m sick of wedding rumors already, I can’t imagine how sick of this Nicole Richie and Joel Madden must be of it. Joel confirmed again, this time to People, that he and Nicole have no plans to get married any time soon. They are happy just as things are and are just enjoying being a family right now.

“We don’t have any plans for that right now,” Joel told the magazine on Wednesday. “We’re just happy, and we’re being a family, and that’s where we’re at right now. But marriage means something different to everyone.”

People rally shouldn’t be concerned that not wanting to get married means that Nicole and Joel are less committed to each other or to Harlow than other couples. It just means they are taking it slow, not letting social norms define them, and figuring out what’s best for them and their daughter.

I love this quote Joel gave to People about Harlow. He’s having the greatest time being a dad!

“It’s crazy,” he says, of being a father. “Every day she does something new. When she reaches for me, it’s awesome! Just watching her grow, it melts me!”

Loni Anderson, 62, married folk singer Bob Flick in California on May 17.

As fate would have it, a posed photo in 1963 is credited for first uniting the pair.

The same photo was used to decorate their wedding cake - what an adorable addition to the days events.

Long story short… Both attended a movie premiere in Minneapolis when Anderson was sent for a fan photo opp with Flick and his group.  While the pair married on May 17th, they had their reception on June 23 at Vibrato Grill Jazz … Etc. in Bel Air, Calif.

People reports the inscription on the cake read, “When we met, 5-17-63.”

How sweet the two would marry on the same day - 45 years later.

Uma Thurman is engaged to her uber wealthy Swiss boyfriend, Arpad “Arki” Busson.

On Saturday, the couple themselves made the announcement, on page 75 of London’s The Times.

Under the heading “Mr A. Busson and Miss U. Thurman,” it reads, “The engagement is announced between Arpad, son of Mr Pascal Busson, of Paris, and Mrs Florence Harcourt-Smith, of South of France, and Uma, daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert A. F. Thurman of New York.”

Well, you just can’t get anymore confirming then that now can you?

Joel Madden isn’t ready to walk down the aisle just yet. The couple have been the source of wedding rumors for months on end.

They welcomed their first child, Harlow, in January, but have been comfortable with the way things are for now.

Joel Madden issued a statement on his website dismissing reports that they had already gotten married. But he is hoping to end all of the speculation by announcing that they currently have no plans to make the trek down the aisle.

He says, “We don’t have any plans for that right now. We’re just happy, and we’re being a family, and that’s where we’re at right now. But marriage means something different to everyone. Right now we’re really happy and we’re concentrating on our family, and that’s what is making us happy right now. We’re moving at our own pace.”

Uma Thurman is engaged to Swiss financier Arpad Busson.

Her rep confirmed that Arpad popped the question to Uma and gave her a big insanely huge rock to seal the deal.

The ring is eight carats for the center stone surrounded by 20 smaller stones.

This will be the third marriage for Uma, who married Gary Oldman and Ethan Hawke previously. She has two children with Ethan. Arpad is no stranger to high profile bonds, either, he was dating supermodel Elle Macpherson, who he has two children with.

The couple met at a private dinner in Milan last year.

Cynthia Nixon has cleared the air about her alleged breast enhancement. “I was at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital for my ‘three-monthly’ checkup. I was in the Oncology Department. I guess they think that means plastic surgery,” explained Nixon, who is a breast cancer survivor. “We got a call from [the Post] asking if I’d had breast augmentation, and my publicist laughed at them and said, ‘No, of course not.’ But they printed it anyway. If I was going to get a boob job, wouldn’t it make sense that I’d get it before ‘Sex and the City‘? The story was totally false. It would be annoying and disheartening in any case, but particularly because I’ve been so open about my breast cancer.”

The actress also spoke about the recent legalization of same-sex marriage in California. She & her partner, Christine Marinoni, will not be going across country to get married because they’d “like to do it in New York, when it becomes legalized. Hopefully it won’t take 20 years.”

American Idol champ from the second season, Ruben Studdard has obtained a marriage license according to sources.  License was obtained Monday in Alabama.

Studdard, 29, arrived at the Shelby County Probate Office in Birmingham with fiance’ Surata Zuri McCants, 30, just before noon to fill out the appropriate paperwork and walked out with license in hand. Studdard is a Birmingham native.

While there is no immediate word on when they planned to marry, it’s safe to say Ruben will be a married man sometime in the next 30 days.  That’s the duration for which an Alabama marriage license is valid.

It’s rare that the ex-wife is happy schmappy with the new wife. And so is the case with Marc Anthony and his ex, Dayanara Torres. Dayanara wrote a book, called Married to Me: How Committing to Myself Led to Triumph after Divorce, and even though she didn’t mention Jennifer or Marc by name it’s obvious she’s writing about them. And WHY would she do that?

One source thinks it’s because she wants to capitalize on Jen and Marc’s fame, and because (and there’s no surprise here) she isn’t quite over the divorce. Everytime Jennifer or Marc receive attention for something (J-Lo getting pregnant, the birth of the twins, their recent tour) Dayanara pops up out of nowhere and begins to talk.

When Jen found out she was pregnant, she announced it to her family only and asked them to please keep it a secret from the press. Jen had tried for years to get pregnant and she wanted to be safely into her pregnancy before the paparazzi followed her around snapping pictures. But Dayanara immediately blabbed this news, disrespecting their privacy.

Then, when the twins, Max and Emme, were born Dayanara began writing a book about her divorce from Marc Anthony.

It isn’t that Dayanara hasn’t had her share of relationships since she and Marc broke up. It’s that she can’t seem to get over the fact that they weren’t meant to be together. She whined about their original wedding ceremony. They separated. They got back together and had another ceremony to please Dayanara, but that wasn’t enough either and they separated yet again. After that Marc started dating Jennifer and Dayanara hasn’t gotten over it yet.

It’s not that Jen and Marc don’t think she shouldn’t move on and be happy, but why ride the coattails of their hard work and fame? One source close to the family says:

“The belief in the Lopez family is that Marc’s ex only did this to capitalise on Lopez’s marriage to Anthony and also because Torres is jealous of Anthony’s happiness. Torres can’t be happy that Anthony is raising the babies (five month olds Max and Emme) in the Opulent Long Island mansion she once shared with him and their two children.”

It’s hard to get over an ex, to be sure, especially when things were rocky in your relationship from the start. But Dayanara should realize she will only find happiness when she moves on from her anger over Marc’s relationship with Jennifer.
